Enabling and using split-screen multitasking can vary slightly depending on the make and model of your phone, as different manufacturers may have their own implementations. However, I can provide you with general instructions that should work for most Android phones and iPhones.
Android Phones:
- Open the Apps Menu:
- Tap on the square or recent apps button at the bottom of the screen.
- Choose the First App:
- Open the app you want to use in split-screen.
- Activate Split-Screen:
- While in the first app, tap and hold the recent apps button (square or the three-vertical-lines icon) or swipe up from the bottom to reveal the recent apps.
- Select the Second App:
- You should see the first app at the top of the screen. Scroll through the recent apps and tap the second app you want to use in split-screen.
- Adjust the Split-Screen Divider:
- You can adjust the size of the split-screen divider by dragging the handlebar in the middle of the screen up or down.
- Exit Split-Screen:
- To exit split-screen, drag the divider all the way to the top or bottom of the screen.
iPhones:
As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, iPhones didn’t have a native split-screen feature like Android. However, they did have a feature called “Slide Over” and “Picture in Picture” for certain iPads.
- Slide Over:
- Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Dock.
- Drag the app you want to use over the app that’s currently open.
- Picture in Picture:
- For certain apps, you can use Picture in Picture mode by starting a video and then pressing the home button. The video will then become a small movable window.
Please note that features and updates may have changed since my last update, so I recommend checking the latest user manual or support documentation for your specific phone model or checking the settings on your device to see if there have been any changes or additions to the multitasking features.
